Bobby Joe Harper, age 79, a resident of Lockesburg, Ark., died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2020, in Ashdown, Ark.
He was born March 18, 1941, in the Greens Chapel Community. Mr. Harper was a logger and a truck driver and a member of the First Baptist Church of Lockesburg since 1960. He enjoyed his grandchildren, his dogs, and helping others.
Mr. Harper was preceded in death by his parents; Robert Alexander and Ruby Mae Janes Harper; one brother, Wayne Cortez Gilbert; and one sister, Bea Hosey.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Leah Harper of Lockesburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Andrew Pope of Nashville, Ark.; 10 grandchildren, Britney Mitchell, Shawn McWhorter, Ashley Coleman, Grayson Coleman, Austin O’Rand, Dustin Smith, Meagan Smith, Tyler Pope, Andrea Woodruff, and Julia Linhoff; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Harper were at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020, at Old New Hope Cemetery with Hershel Janes officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
General viewing was 4:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, August 28 at the funeral home in De Queen.
