William Edgar Woodruff, age 88, of Murfreesboro, Ark., died on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020 in Hot Springs, Ark.

He was born on Dec. 7, 1931 in Center Point, Ark., the son of the late Luther and Meleese Stokes Woodruff.

Mr. Woodruff was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro but attended First Baptist Church in Murfreesboro. He served two terms on the Murfreesboro City Council, and four years in the United States Navy.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronny and Raymond Woodruff.

Survivors include: his wife of 61 years, Joyce Woodruff of Murfreesboro, Ark.; one daughter, Mary Jean Barbre of Murfreesboro, Ark.; one grandson, Richard Barbre of Hot Springs, Ark.; two brothers, L.R. Woodruff of Cabot, Ark., and Charles Woodruff of Benton, Ark.

Visitation was 1 p.m. until service time, Thursday, Jan. 9, at First Baptist Church in Murfreesboro.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, at First Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, with Bro. Jerry Hill and Bro. Charlie Williams officiating. Burial followed  Murfreesboro Cemetery under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.

Pallbearers were Bill Henderson, Jim Henderson, Rusty Silvey, Mike Horn, Terry Robertson and Jack Bennett.
