Frances “Louise” Greene

Frances “Louise” Greene, age 87, of Umpire, went to her heavenly home with her loving family by her side on Friday, May 24, 2019.

Louise was born in Athens, Thursday, Dec. 3, 1931, the daughter of Wes Roberts and Dove Hamilton Roberts. She married Gerold Greene on March 22, 1952. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Cora Sirmon and Mildred Sirmon; two brothers, Ira Roberts and Eddie Roberts; and her great-grandson, Maddox Greene.

She was a faithful member of the Umpire Free Holiness Church. She was a graduate of Umpire High School and Gerold and Louise raised chickens together for more than 40 years. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and being outdoors. Louise was a devoted wife, mother, Nanny and friend. She loved all her family unconditionally and loved the time she spent with them. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Gerold Greene of Athens; her children, Pam and Jerry Foster of Mena; Gregg and Shelly Greene of Athens and Angie and Todd Aynes of Mena; her ten grandchildren, Amy Montgomery, Alicia and Mike Farringer, Mason and Lindsay Greene, Marcus and Krystal Greene, Lindy and David Jumper, Brycen Aynes, Brenna Aynes, Lori and Jeff Brotherton, Mandy and Jack Smith and April and Craig Wurtz; fourteen great-grandchildren and one on the way; nieces, nephews, extended family members and many wonderful friends and church family. 

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2019, in the Umpire Free Holiness Church with Rev. Scott Kitchens and Rev. Don Vaughn officiating.

Visitation was Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.

Interment followed in the Athens Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mason Greene, Marcus Greene, Brycen Aynes, Mike Farringer, Luke Montgomery and David Jumper.

Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Roberts, Jimmy Roberts, Danny Roberts, Danny Willis and Billy Roberts.
