Brackets set for Class 7-2A baseball, softball tourneys at Dierks

DIERKS — With the regular season coming to a close this week, the 7AA conference district tournament brackets are set.

Both baseball and softball tournaments will be held in Dierks on April 22-26.

For the baseball bracket, the first round on April 22 will feature the fifth-seeded Foreman Gators against the eighth seed Acorn at 4 p.m.

The winner of the Foreman-Acorn game will play against the number four seed Mount Ida on April 23 at 4 p.m.

On the bottom half of the bracket, first round action will pit sixth seeded Cossatot River against seventh seeded Gurdon on April 22 at 6:30 p.m.

The winner of the game face number three seed Dierks  on April 23 at 6:30 p.m.

Waiting in the semi finals are the conference’s top two seeds, (1) Horatio and (2) Murfreesboro, who will see action on April 25 at 6:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. respectively.

Those two teams, along with their semi final competitors, will receive a berth in the regional tournament at Parkers Chapel the following week.

The baseball conference championship game is set for 6 p.m. on April 26.

In softball, fifth seeded Mount Ida and eighth seeded Foreman will open play at 4 p.m. At 6 p.m. sixth seeded Acorn will face seventh seeded Gurdon.

Fourth seeded Dierks will face the Mount Ida-Foreman winner on April 23 at 4 p.m., while three seed Murfreesboro will play the Acorn-Gurdon winner at 6 p.m. on April 23.

The top two seeds (1) Horatio and (2) Cossatot River await in the semi-finals on April 25 at 4 and 6 p.m. respectively.

The championship game will be held at 6 p.m. on April 26. The four semi-final teams, will receive a berth in the regional tournament at Parkers Chapel the following week.

Neither the baseball nor softball tournaments will hold consolation games for third and fourth place. Those spots will be determined by the semi-final teams’ seeds, with the higher seed receiving the third place position.
