Vernon Arivett, 82, of Athens, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2019.
He was born Dec. 27, 1936, at Langley, the son of the late Lawrence Arivett and Mary Rachel Lawless Arivett.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Howard Arivett; and three sisters, Dulene Cowart, Verniece Burgess and Glennie Hunter.
He was a member of Bissell Chapel Church and was retired from Weyerhaeuser.
Survivors include: two sons, Gary Arivett and wife, Cherrie, of Athens and Timmy Arivett and wife, Charlotte of De Queen; three daughters, Yvonne Pate and husband, Royce, Renee Arivett and Patricia Arivett, all of Athens; three brothers, Winnon Arivett of Dover, Leroy Arivett and Hoyt Arivett, both of Langley; three sisters, Thelma Phillips of Athens, Dorothea House of Dierks and Jeanette Magar of Hot Springs.
Services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Don Vaughn and Bro. Joe Isham officiating.
Visitation was Monday, 6-8 at the funeral home. Burial followed in the Athens Cemetery.
