Charlie J. Short passed away peacefully on November 10, 2017 in Crestview, Florida at the age of 80.

He is tenderly remembered by his devoted wife of 63 years, Helen Short née Loyd; his son, Joey, and his wife, Terri; his daughter, Denice, and her husband, Bill Poindexter; his son, Loyd, and his wife, Teresa; his daughter, Diana and her husband, David Cassell; his sisters, Patricia Welch and Betty Sue; his 6 grandchildren; and his 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Charles Short.

He was born in Clark County, Arkansas on February 11, 1937 and resided many years in Okaloosa County, Florida. He retired from the United States Air Force and was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, serving as Master of Okaloosa Lodge #312. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Valparaiso where he volunteered as a leader of the Royal Ambassadors and was instrumental in the opening of a daycare center. Above all, he loved and cherished his family, instilling these values in them. Services will be held on November 15th, 2017 in Niceville, Florida.
