James Wayne Parker, age 81, of Nashville, Ark., went home to his Lord and Savior on Monday, Aug. 14, 2017.

He was born Dec. 3, 1935, in the Mt. Carmel community to the late Fred Parker, Sr. and Patra Seymour Parker. He was retired from IBM as a customer engineer. Mr. Parker was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Dierks as well as a Deacon and Sunday School Director and Trustee. He was a very Christian man believing in strong values which he passed down to his children. He believed in hard work and honesty. He loved his roses, and keeping up with the Razorbacks, and Dallas Cowboys. When his sons were young he was instrumental with others getting the pee wee and little league baseball back up and running in Dierks; also coaching his sons.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Houston and Donny Parker.

His survivors include: the love of his life and best friend for over 57 years, his wife Bobbie Bevill Parker of Nashville; his children, Gregory K. and wife Yolanda Parker of Nashville, Jeffery W. and wife Mary Jane Parker of Grass Valley, Calif., Kimberly J. and husband Mike Kohut of Las Vegas, Nev., and Casey Parker and fiancé Alissa Berruquin of Nashville; siblings, Fred Parker, Jr. and wife Jean of Nashville, Lavon Reed and husband Wayne of Dierks, Joyce Sharp of Dierks, and Carolyn and husband Edmun of Murfreesboro, Ark.; sisters-in-law, Effie Parker of Dierks, and Carolyn Parker of Franklin, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Services were Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Dierks First Baptist Church with Bro. David Blase and Bro. Calvin Parker officiating with interment in Sunshine Cemetery. The family received friends on Wednesday night from 5:30-8 at Nashville Funeral Home.
