Lemuel “Cooney” O’Neal, 91, of Newhope, died Wednesday, July 5, 2017.
He was born Nov. 8, 1925, in Daisy, Ark., the son of the late James Cleveland and Octavia Elizabeth Simmons O’Neal.
He was retired after 42 years with Weyerhaeuser Timberlands. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Freewill Baptist Church, was a Mason, and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Reid O’Neal, and a son, Clint O’Neal.
Survivors include: a daughter, Brenda Watson of Nashville, Ark.; a son, Jeff O’Neal and wife, Roni, of Edmond, Okla.; also grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2017, in the Pleasant Grove Freewill Baptist Church with Kenny Fant officiating. Burial followed in the Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
Visitation was 6-8 p.m., Friday, July 7 at the funeral home in Dierks.
