Raymond Lee “Moon” Nation, age 87, passed from this life on May 23, 2017. Ray was born on Jan. 16, 1930, in Gore, Okla., to William Henry Nation and Pearl Irene Carter Nation.

He went to Gore High School where he played basketball and graduated as class Valedictorian in 1948. Having completed Draughon’s Business School in 1950, he then served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War from 1951 to 1957. That same year, he went to work for Ideal Cement Company in Portland, Colo. From there he was transferred to Lake Charles, La., and then to Okay, Ark. He retired in 1993 after 35 years as a production supervisor.

In 1963, Ray obeyed the Gospel in the Church of Christ and became a member of Sunset Church of Christ. He served the Lord by preaching three years in Lake Charles, La., one year in Mineral Springs, and over 40 years at Center Point Church of Christ.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Roy, Bruce, and Oscar; four sisters, Ora Mae, Helen, Lucille, Francis and one infant daughter, Lucille Irene.

He is survived by Arden Elaine McDowell Nation his wife of 58 years; three sons, Brian (Gloria) of Hughes Springs, Texas, Greg (Kimberly) of Norman, Okla., and Steve of Nashville, Ark. Four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren called him Poppie.

Services were Saturday, May 27,2017 at 2 p.m. in Sunset Church of Christ. Interment followed in Center Point Cemetery under the direction of Nashville Funeral Home.
