Thelma Casey, age 84, of Mount Ida, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2017.
She was born on November 16, 1932 in the Silver community of Montgomery County, the daughter of Jody and Getrude Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Casey, on August 31, 2002.
Thelma was a loving, giving person and a great mother to her nieces. Anyone who met her immediately liked her and would eventually love her. She fed the birds, squirrels and occasional raccoon family all year long. She was a strong supporter of veterans and other charitable organizations. Our special thanks go to Dr. Barbara Page who kept Thelma’s best friend, Susie, alive for her to care for and love, and to the staff of Arkansas Hospice who took such wonderful care for our aunt.
She is survived by her nieces and their spouses, Sarah (Charlie) Jimerson of Alma, Dean (John) Zmuda of Hot Springs, Jo Childress and Nina Rucker, both of Mount Ida; and many other nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2017, in the Joplin Cemetery with Bro. Brent Furr officiating.
Honorary pallbearers are the employees of the City of Mount Ida and Barry Crow.
Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home of Glenwood.
