Lee Simpson, age 80, of Mount Ida, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017.
He was born on September 5, 1936, the son of James B. Simpson and Ruby Thacker Simpson. On June 3, 1957, he was married to Betty Palsa.
He was the former owner and operator of Lee’s Sod Farm and a member of the Mount Ida First Baptist Church. He enjoyed four wheeling, camping, fishing, traveling and Tuesday dominoes at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Simpson of Mount Ida; his son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Donna Simpson of Benton; his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Chris Elder of Mount Ida; four grandsons, Steven Simpson, Michael Simpson, Taylor Elder and his wife, Hayley, and Dustin Elder; his brother, Joe Dale Simpson of Mount Ida; and his sister, Janette Fuller of Ohio.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 29, 2017, in the Mount Ida First Baptist Church with Bro. Steve Rogers officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Stanley-Standridge Cemetery under the direction of Davis- Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
Pallbearers will be Wade Abernathy, Gene Mayberry, Jim Mays, Sam Amerson, Howard Meeks and Ralph White.
