Oben W. Alexander, age 85, of Mount Ida, left this world on Saturday, February 4, 2017.
He was born on August 14, 1931 in Mount Ida, the son of William A. Alexander and Elizabeth Carr Alexander. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorthey Ruth Alexander: two sons, Ricky Alexander and Johnny Alexander; two grandchildren, Johnny R. Alexander, Jr. and Anthony L.(Tony) Alexander; his parents; two step-sons, Billy Wilcox and Dale Anderson; and three sisters, Evelyn Laney, Rena Warren and Hazel Outler.
A retired truck driver, he loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Christian Mission Ministries.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen Allen of Hot Springs; two grandchildren, Aaron Allen and Ashleigh Cooper, both of Hot Springs; six great-grandchildren; eight step-daughters; several step- grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 9, 2017, in the Christian Mission Ministries with Bro. Brent Furr and Bro. Bud Wilburn officiating.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Stanley-Standridge Cemetery under the direction of Davis- Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
