Catherine Ward Claussen, 90, of Mount Ida, Ark., passed away on Dec. 1, 2016 at Nashville Nursing and Rehab in Nashville, Ark.
Mrs. Claussen was born Sept. 1, 1926 of the late Mary Kolvick and James Clough. She was married to John Cecil Ward of McCaskill, Ark., 1976-1983, and Walter Claussen of Mt. Ida, 1990-2000. Mrs. Claussen was preceeded in death by her parents, seven siblings and her two dear husbands, John Ward and Walter Claussen.
Mrs. Claussen is survived by her brother, Thomas Clough of Lykens, Penn.; her step-son, John Ward of Houston, Texas; her step-daughter, Beth Ward Brown of McCaskill, Ark.; step-sons Daniel Claussen of Georgia and David Claussen of Minnesota; her step-daughters, Jackie Claussen Ahernc and Priscilla Claussen Fladland, both of Minnesota; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Catherine graduated from Wiconisco High School, Villanova University, and Forham University with a B.S. and C.M.S. in Education. She was very involved in elementary and junior high education as a teacher and principal.
Mass of Christian Burial was at Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, at 10 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Mount Ida, Ark.; burial followed at Avery Chapel Cemetery in McCaskill, Ark. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville, Ark.
