Prescott man killed, 3 from Nashville hurt in Tuesday crash

A Prescott man was killed and Nashville woman and two children were injured in a two-vehicle crash the afternoon of Tuesday, Nov. 22, according to the Arkansas State Police.

John Pennington, 40, of Prescott died in the wreck. Karen Valente, 29, of Nashville was injured along with two unnamed minor children, who were passengers in Valente’s 2008 Toyota Highlander. The state police does not release names of minor victims of traffic accidents.

The wreck happened around 4 p.m. on Highway 371 West in Hempstead County. Pennington was driving east in a 2004 Ford F-150 when he crossed the centerline and struck Valente’s westbound vehicle. The three people injured were taken to a Texarkana hospital with unknown injuries.

ASP Trooper Christina Bussey noted in a preliminary report that it was raining at the time of the accident.
