Junior Scrappers extend win streak to 55 straight

The Nashville Junior Scrappers will travel to Arkadelphia Thursday night for a game that will decide the District 7-4A junior championship. Kickoff at Badger Stadium is set for 7 p.m.

The Scrappers (8-0) carry a 55-game winning streak into the season finale. The streak dates back to the last 2 games of the 2010 season.

Nashville comes into the game off a 36-8 road win over Malvern Oct. 27.

The Scrappers took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a 1-yard run by Carmillias Morrison. Jhonny Pioquinto kicked the PAT.

Nashville scored again on a 70-yard pass from Lance Easter to Caiden Erwin with 4:53 left in the second quarter. Easter ran the ball in for the 2-point conversion.

Malvern responded with a 43-yard scoring run with 4:01 left before halftime.

Nashville came back with a 7-yard TD run by Easter with 1:12 left in the half.

Detrich Young recovered a Leopard fumble in the endzone for a touchdown with 5:42 left in the third quarter, Pioquinto’s kick was good.

Aaron Lott wrapped up the Scrappers’ scoring on a 16-yard TD pass from Easter with 7:39 left in the game. Again, the PAT was good.

Easter completed 4 of 7 passes for 112 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He ran the ball 7 times for 36 yards and a TD.

Morison had 9 carries for 59 yards and a touchdown.

Garland ran the ball 4 times for 32 yards, and Stewart had 1 carry for 5 yards.

Lott had 2 pass receptions for 29 yards and a touchdown. Erwin had 1 catch for 70 yards and a TD. Witherspoon had 1 catch for 13 yards.

Nashville had 244 yards total offense against Malvern, including 132 rushing and 112 passing.

The Scrappers held the Leopards to 88 total yards.

After 8 games, Nashville has compiled 2,792 yards total offense, including 2,311 rushing and 481 passing. The Scrappers have scored 339 points, an average of 42.4 per game.

Nashville has held opponents to 829 total yards and 62 points, an average of 7.8 per game.

Easter has completed 24 of 48 passes for 481 yards, 6 TDs and 3 interceptions.

Easter has run for 14 touchdowns, followed by Morrison with 13 and Jefferson with 11.
