Veteran Howard County Sheriff’s Department deputy, Todd Tallant, has been selected as Howard County’s Officer of the Year, according to Sheriff Bryan McJunkins.

Tallant was honored during a luncheon at the 2016 Arkansas Law Enforcement Summit hosted at Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge.

McJunkins said he and Jana Tallant, Todd’s wife and jail administrator for Howard County, accompanied the deputy to the awards ceremony.

“I think Deputy Tallant was a great choice for the award,” said McJunkins. “He is dedicated to the sheriff’s department and the people of this county.”

Tallant is the county’s SWAT team commander, firearms instructor and pepper gun and taser instructor. He handles these additional and specialized tasks all while performing his required daily duties as a Howard County Patrol Deputy.

“This often requires Todd using much of his own time to monitor, prepare and conduct these specialized tasks. Todd has never failed to take care of whatever was asked of him by the department.

“I and the rest of Howard County’s law enforcement would like to congratulate Todd on being chosen for this honor.”
