001Mary Alice Cook, age 94 of Nashville, went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, Oct. 10, 2016 in Nashville. She was born Nov. 11, 1921 in Corinth, Miss., to the late Frank and Mattie Henderson Leatherwood.

She was a homemaker and a very faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Nashville. She had been a devoted Sunday School teacher for over 57 years, studying her Bible daily. She loved sewing, gardening and her flowers. She and her husband helped raise their grandchildren and she always made sure that their home was a happy home. She was also an awesome cook.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her son, Donald Wayne Cook; and her daughter, Joyce Newell.

Her survivors include: the love of her life, her husband Fletcher Cook of over 74 years of Nashville; a brother, Marcus Leatherwood of Corinth, Miss.; two grandchildren, Sheri  Higginbotham and husband, Mordy, of Magnolia, Ark., and Kevin Newell of Hope, Ark.; three great grandchildren, Kailey Newell, Amber Ainsworth, and Josh Ainsworth. Numerous other family and friends.

Services will be Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church in Nashville with Rev. Glen Green and Bob Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Bluff Springs Cemetery under the direction of Nashville Funeral Home.
