Joyce Walker, age 86, of Glenwood, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2016.

She was born on July 11, 1930, in Peoria, Arizona, the daughter of Jesse Fox and Dollie Bissell Fox. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryan Walker; her parents; her sister, Willie Gill; and five brothers, Hershal Fox, Johnny Fox, J. N. Fox, Marion “Buddy” Fox and Hollis “Doc” Fox.

In 1971, Joyce opened Merle Norman Cosmetics, the first national franchise operating in Glenwood’s business community. After 45 years, it is still in operation by the family today. She was a Methodist in her faith and loved being with her family. She enjoyed her garden, especially tending to her beautiful roses, and she loved to cook.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Joyce Perser, Ricky and Elaine Cox, Bryce Walker and Anne Perry, and Barry Walker, all of Glenwood; her grandchildren, Jana Bradford of Glenwood, April Hawthorn of Georgia, Brandy Cox of Hot Springs, Jesse Cox of Pearcy, Greg Walker of Little Rock, Bryan Walker, Mikayla Walker and Katie Clinton, all of Glenwood; her great-grandchildren, Jantzen Bradford of Fulton, Missouri, Jaci Bradford of Glenwood, Zoe Cox and Jett Cox, all of Pearcy; Tristan Rader, Rylee Cates and Hadlee Turner, all of Hot Springs, Glen Hawthorn, Megan Hawthorn and Morgan Hawthorn, all of Georgia; her great-great-grandchild, Jayden Bradford of Fulton, Missouri; and her long-time friend, Patsy Burke of Hot Springs.

Services were held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 10, 2016, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Rev. Lonnie Landers officiating.

Interment was in the Glenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jantzen Bradford, Jesse Cox, Greg Walker, Bryan Walker, Tony Fox and Carl Jones.

Honorary pallbearers were Bruce Vaughn, Houston Jones and Terry Fox.
