Quartz, Quiltz and Craftz Festival October 7-9

    The Quartz Quiltz and Craftz Festival will be held October 7-9 at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds.
    This year will be the 29th Annual World Championship Quartz Crystal Dig. It will take place October 7-8 at local crystal mines. Montgomery County is home to some of the most productive crystal mines in the world with many crystal types only found in this region.
    The mandatory digger orientation will be held Friday morning at 7 a.m.and the awards banquet will be held Saturday evening at 6 p.m.
    According to the Chamber there are currently 59 diggers from 15 states registered for the dig. Would be crystal diggers can register from now until the morning of the event.
    The festival will once again feature the Kid’s Dig sponsored by Dixie Crystal Mining Co./Twin Creeks Crystal Mine.
    There will also be a gem and mineral show at the fairgrounds. Vendors from across the country will be on hand to offer some of the most unique specimens to be found.

    This year marks the 36th year for the annual quilt show.
    The quilt show features some of the finest quality quilts in the region. Local quilt enthusiasts will have their quilts on display. Reports are that there are already over 150 quilts registered for this year’s event.
    Quilt registration will be done October 6 at the fairgrounds.
