Outlaws dominate Red Devils

The Dierks Outlaws met little resistant Friday night against district newcomers, the Mountain Pine Red Devils, and picked up a 40-8 win.

The Outlaws are now 2-2 on the season while the Red Devils dropped to 0-4. The Red Devil senior high program has dropped down in the numbers already and they have forfeited their scheduled game with the Mineral Springs Hornets. The fate of the Red Devils’ season remains unknown at this time.

The Outlaws will host the Foreman Gators for a conference game this Friday night. Kick-off is set for 7:00.

Friday’s game at MP belonged to the Outlaws. The offense posted 352 yards with 309 on the ground, led by Peyton Frachiseur with 10 carries for 120 yards and three touchdowns. Back-up quarterback Lane Woodruff added to the total with eight carries for 92 yards and three TDs and also hit three of eight passes for 43 yards.

Jarret Fox also picked up 53 yards on one carry and accounted for all of the Outlaw passing yardage with three receptions for 43 yards. Elvin Wilson had five carries for 41 yards and Colton Strode and Casey Godfrey also carried the ball for the Outlaw offense.

The Outlaws dialed up 33 points in the first half while keeping the Red Devils off the board until late in the third quarter.

Woodruff rushed for a TD from 38 yards out to open the scoring and Guillermo Sanz kicked the Outlaws up, 7-0, early in the first quarter. The next Outlaw points came in the first quarter when Frachiseur scored from one yard out for a 13-0 lead.

Frachsieur found the end zone again to open the second quarter, this time from nine yards out. Sanz’ kick put Dierks up, 20-0.

Woodruff added to the first-half scoring when he rushed in from 15 yards with 8:41 left in the half. With a few ticks left on the clock, the Outlaws closed out the scoring with an eight-yard run by Woodruff and a boot from Sanz for the 33-0 lead.

The Outlaws’ last points of the game before Coach Vince Perrin began substituting came with 7:23 left in the third quarter. Frachiseur broke a 59-yard TD run and Sanz kicked the score to 40-0.

The Red Devils were finally allowed the end zone with just over one minute left in the game when their QB hit a 10-yard pass and the two-point play tallied the 40-8 score.

Cale Adams led the Outlaws on defense with nine stops followed by Gabe Humphreys with five stops. Also earning the tackle chart were Jacob Sharp, Colt Kuykendall, Woodruff, Wilson, Dalton Sherck, Bradley Lowery, Jesse Martin, Fox, Sanz, Frachiseur, Jed Morrow, Andrew Hilton, Jon Wilbanks, Cameron Pugh, Brian Burk, Frederick Sanchez and Darin Plowman.
