Junior Scrappers extend streak to 49 games with win over Hope

Quarterback Lance Easter ran for 3 touchdowns and passed for another as the Nashville Junior Scrappers routed Hope 55-6 in their first game on the new turf at Scrapper Stadium Sept. 15.

The Scrappers (2-0) ran their winning streak to 49 games with the victory over the Bobkittens.

Nashville led 19-0 at the end of the first quarter and 33-0 at halftime.

Keyshawn Stewart returned the opening kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown. Noe Hernandez made the PAT to put Nashville on top 7-0.

Carmillias Morrison scored 17 seconds later on a 2-yard run following a Hope turnover. The PAT was no good.

Easter picked up his first TD on a 7-yard run with 3:36 to go in the first quarter. The PAT missed.

Easter scored twice in the second quarter on runs of 25 and 20 yards. Both PATs were good.

Jakobi Jefferson ran 36 yards for a TD in the third quarter. Again, Hernandez made the extra point.

Hope’s only score came on a 31-yard run with 2:20 left in the third quarter. The PAT was no good.

Jefferson scored on a 12-yard pass from Easter early in the fourth quarter; the PAT was good.

The Scrappers added a team safety with 3:44 left in the game. Morrison returned the ensuing Hope kickoff 58 yards for a TD to round out the Scrapper scoring.

For the night, Easter completed 4 of 9 passes for 86 yards, 1 TD and an interception.

Easter was the leading rusher with 7 carries for 81 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Morrison ran the ball 5 times for 78 yards and a score. Jefferson had 5 carries for 86 yards and a touchdown.

Lott was the leading receiver with 1 catch for 46 yards. Jefferson made 1 reception for 12 yards and a TD. Morrison and Witherspoon had 1 catch each for 9 and 19 yards, respectively.

The Scrappers had 329 yards total offense, including 243 rushing and 86 passing.

They held Hope to a negative 112 yards rushing and 26 yards passing for a negative 86 yards on the night.

Eighth grade

The eighth grade Scrappers (2-0) defeated Hope 29-0.

Stewart scored on a 4-yard run midway through the first quarter.

Austin Hanson scored on a 7-yard pass from Stewart with 1:30 to go before halftime.

Devarius Snell returned an interception 55 yards for a TD with 3:54 left in the third quarter.

Nashville’s final score of the night came with 1:23 remaining in the third on a 14-yard pass from Stewart.

Stewart was 3 of 10 passing for 49 yards and 2 TDs. He ran the ball 3 times for 47 yards and a touchdown.

Garland had 4 carries for 82 yards, and Hanson ran the ball twice for 18 yards.

Robinson had 1 reception for 14 yards and a TD. Hanson had 1 catch for 7 yards and a touchdown. Erwin made 1 catch for 28 yards.

Nashville had 178 yards total offense, including 129 rushing and 49 passing.

The Scrappers held Hope to 82 yards total offense, including 64 rushing and 18 passing.

The junior Scrappers will host Bauxite Thursday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m.

The eighth grade game will begin at 5:30 p.m.
