Reeder McCullough looks over the fire damage to Whiteway Barber Shop after an early-morning blaze Sept. 14. The fire began in the front wall of the building, which sustained structural damage. The fire call came in on 911, and the Nashville Volunteer Fire Department was paged out at 5:39 a.m. Firemen were on the scene until 7:04 a.m. McCullough said that he should be able to salvage a great deal of the Scrapper memorabilia dating back several decades. Any fire damage will just make the team schedules and other items "look older," he said.

Fire damaged a landmark business in downtown Nashville Sept. 14.

Whiteway Barber Shop sustained structural damage to the front wall, and the rest of the building had smoke and water damage, according to Fire Chief Jerry Harwell.

Firemen arrived on the scene at 5:42 a.m. with two engines, a service truck, and a rescue vehicle. Fifteen firefighters responded.

Owner Reeder McCullough thought much of the Scrapper memorabilia in the shop and some of the equipment could be salvaged.

The shop has relocated to 206 S. Main during repairs.
