Lions prep to for season with practice, rally

Rain and more rain can’t stop the Mount Ida Lions as they continue to prepare for the 2016 season.
The Lions appeared on KATV Channel 7 Monday as part of their “31 Teams in 31 Days” series.
Coach Mike White stated that the team has had their good days and bad days in practice.
“We’re big and we’re fast, but we have struggled to hold on to the ball.” He said.
The Arkansas Blue Cross/Blue Shield Kickoff Classic pep rally has been rescheduled due to the power outage Tuesday. It will be held Wednesday, August 24, at Stedman Field in Mount Ida at 6 p.m.
The Junior High and Senior High teams will compete in preseason activities next week with the senior Lions traveling to Jessieville for a Jamboree, Tuesday, August 23. The Junior Lions will make the trek to Jessieville two days later on August 25. Both jamborees will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The Mount Ida Lions will kick off the 2016 season in Arkadelphia as they face Centerpoint in the Arkansas Blue Cross/Blue Shield Kickoff Classic presented by Hootens Magazine. The game will be held Monday, August 29 at 7 p.m. The game will be held at Cliff Harris Stadium on the Ouachita Baptist University campus.
The Junior Lions will kick off their season with a trip to Magazine September 1. Seventh grade will play at 5:30 p.m. (if Magazine has a seventh grade team) and junior high will kick off at 7 p.m.
