Obituary: Joe Thomas Reid

aJoe Thomas Reid, 62, of Huntington, Ark., formerly of Dierks, Ark., passed away Monday, July 18, 2016. He was born Dec. 31, 1953 in Newhope, Ark., to Luther Paul and Mary Faye (Story) Reid. He was of the Christian faith. 

Joe was a 1971 graduate of Dierks High School and a 2011 graduate of Kiamichi Technical College in Poteau, Okla., earning a degree in HVAC after having worked many years at Riverside Furniture, Ready Ice and Briar Gypsum in south Arkansas. He most recently enjoyed his job in maintenance for Mansfield Public Schools. 

Joe was a skilled craftsman who had a common sense approach for fixing or repairing just about anything. He will be remembered for his honesty, integrity and quick dry wit.  He loved hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles. But most of all, he loved his family. 

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 21 at Cross Point Cowboy Church in Nashville, Ark., with interment at Liberty Cemetery in Newhope, Ark., under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood. Viewing will be Wednesday from 1-8 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5-7 pm. 

He is survived by his wife, Sheila M. Reid; daughter, Mary Rachel Reid; three grandchildren, Braelynn, Jason Jr. and Josh Reid all of the home; son, Joey Reid and wife Nichole of Greenwood; two granddaughters, Abigail and Maddi; and one brother, Mike Reid and wife, Brenda of Nashville, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Jason Patrick Reid, Sr. 

Pallbearers will be Mark Story, Brian Reid, Quint Hodges, Jeff Pyles, Matt Howell and Bobby Norris.
