web childressRichard A. Childress, age 76, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2016.
He is preceded in death by his parents OJ and Grace Tubbs, sisters: Murphya Moore and Juanita Childress.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Jo Childress of Mt. Ida, Son: Paul Childress and wife Karen of Mt. Ida. Sister: Sue Talley (ED), Brother: Lloyd Tubbs (Chris) and Grandchildren: Marcus Childress of Mt. Ida and Kara Childress of Hot Springs.
Richard was an avid Mt. Ida Lions fan. He enjoyed attending all of the sporting events ranging from the high school teams all the way down to the peewee teams. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force in October of 1981. Richard spent 10 years working for NASA on the Apollo missions in Houston, TX. After returning home, he worked for True Value before becoming part owner in O.J. Tubbs’ sawmill. He then returned to True Value until retiring in June of 2015. He loved to spend time fishing with his Grandson Marcus, Granddaughter Kara and Son Paul. Richard was loved by all that knew him and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held Saturday July 9th, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Faith Tabernacle.
Mr. Childress was sent for cremation under the direction of Thornton Funeral Home of Mount Ida, AR.
