Billie Ray Tolleson Istre

Billie Ray Tolleson Istre  (June 27, 1930-May 7, 2016) was born in Nashville, Ark., to Maude and William Floyd Tolleson.

She married Felix J. Istre, Jr., on March 6, 1954 at Andrews AFB in Washington, DC.  Besides working at Dow Chemical, she was a homemaker and mother to six children: John, James, Michael, Mitchell, Cherry, and Ed. The Istre family made a home in many places including, Washington, DC, Illinois, Wisconsin, Utah, Louisiana, and England.  Upon retirement, she and Felix settled in San Antonia, Texas, at Blue Skies Air Force Village I, where she lived for the past 20 years. 

Billie Ray was a gifted seamstress and needlecrafts designer. She used these talents as a path to volunteer in numerous capacities for her church, the public library, and air force events.  

Billie Ray was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters: Melveda Tolleson Arnold, and Dorothy Tolleson Walker. She is survived by all her children, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and her Arkansas-based cousins: Margaret Lee Thompson,  Sylvia Arnold Terry, Tim Tolleson, Marsha Rhodes, Cathy Hooker, Mike Clark, Jim Rhodes, Delores Rhodes, Mark Rhodes, Charlotte Bagley, Buddy (David) Tribble, Ralph Tribble, Tim Tribble, Stuart Tribble, Russell Tolleson, Johnny Tolleson, Cheryl McGoff, and Bill Tolleson. 

At her request, no memorial service is planned.  Gifts in her memory may be made to the local Operation Christmas Child Ministry. 

Jimmy D. Sullivan

Jimmy D. Sullivan, 74, of Little Rock, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016.

He was born Dec. 29, 1941, in Nashville, the son of the late John P. and Irene Sullivan.

He was president and CEO of Worthen First Mortgage Co., in Little Rock.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Sullivan.

Survivors include: his wife of 50 years, Kay Johnson Sullivan; a daughter, Kristi Sullivan Patton and husband, Patrick; a son, John Sullivan; and grandchildren.

A celebration was held on Friday, May 13, at St. James United Methodist Church, Little Rock. A reception and visitation with the family followed.

Danny Paul Davis

Danny Paul Davis, age 49, of Delight, passed from this life on Thursday, May 12, 2016 doing what he loved best near Ashdown.

He was born on June 13, 1966, the son of Pat D. and Jackie Maxey Davis. Danny was a truck driver for 34 years and was a member of First Baptist Church in Delight. He enjoyed visiting with friends and family but enjoyed driving a truck most of all. Danny was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father-in-law, Glen “Goober” Stone. 

Danny is survived by: his wife, Cindy Stone Davis; his parents, Pat and Jackie Davis; his sister, Lori Allgood (Steve); his brother, Mike Davis (Debbie); and mother-in-law, Linda Stone, all of Delight. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Beebo Stone, sister-in-law, Wanda Campbell and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Delight with Verlon Wood officiating. Interment was in Delight Cemetery. Visitation was 5-7 p.m. on Sunday at Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.

Danny’s nephews and friends served as pallbearers.
