Turner, GladysMrs. Gladys Ann Brotherton Turner, age 72, passed away unexpectedly at her home near Blevins, Arkansas, Sunday, February 28, 2016. She was born to George Harold “Hap” and Annie Lee “Tinsey” Phillips Brotherton, April 3, 1943 in Houston, Texas. All her schooling was at Blevins, Arkansas, graduating in the class of 1961. Upon graduation, she attended cosmetology school in Nashville, graduating in 1963. After a brief career in hairdressing, she found that this was not her life’s calling and started to work at various factories around the county. She worked at the pajama factory in Prescott and then she worked for Nest Fresh in Blevins for 19 years. Upon the closing of Nest Fresh, she was a faithful employee for Tyson in Nashville for 20 years. In 1963, she married Harold Duane Turner at a ceremony at home. From this union, she had two children, Sharon and Michelle. This marriage ended in divorce after 16 years. She then became the constant companion of Sam Leslie which was terminated by his untimely death years later in 1996. She was an avid bingo player and a lifelong supporter of the VFW Auxiliary, joining in 1976. She was a charter member of Marlbrook Baptist Church. She devoted her life to her mother, children, and especially grandchildren. She is survived by her two children, Sharon Renee Turner of Bonanza and Charlotte Michelle Dean of Blevins; her brother, Robert H. Brotherton and his wife, Margo, of Sheridan Wyoming; three grandchildren, Corey Turner, Fawn Carey, and Heather Almond; three great-grandchildren; two nieces, Kris Dahl of Phoenix Arizona and Megan Cook of Sheridan, Wyoming; and her favorite little dog, Chloie. Funeral Service was held at 2:00 pm, Friday, March 4, 2016 at Brazzel/Cornish Chapel with Bro. Mike Fischer officiating. Family reception followed at Marlbrook Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Blevins, Arkansas. Burial will be at Marlbrook Cemetery.
