Mr. Popper’s Penguins is my choice this week. It’s nothing like the movie, by the way. It’s about a house painter that got sent a penguin by an Admiral he sent a letter to at the South Pole. He named the penguin Captain Cook.
Later on, he gets a friend named Greta, then eight cute baby penguins are born. They do all sorts of cool and amazing tricks on stages all across the country. One day, they go to the wrong theater and Mr. Popper and all ten penguins go to jail for a week. But, they didn’t know it was the wrong stage, and also the wrong town. It all has a very happy and joyful ending.
I liked this book because it is funny and joyful. I like stories with suspense and happy endings like this book. I still think it’s weird that in the movie they changed every single detail except that it’s about a man named Mr. Popper and he has a wife and two kids, and they have penguins living with all of them in their house in New York.
Everything else is completely different from the book. Mr. Popper got the bird from his dad, not an Admiral he sent a letter to that’s at the bottom of the earth. He is not crazy about the arctic like he is in the book. He’s rich, not poor, like in the book. I knew it would be different from the movie, but I didn’t think it would be all that much different from it!
I would like to thank everyone who reads my book reviews, for reading them. I really appreciate it a lot! Talk to you next week!
