The Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce Board met in the conference room of the Municipal Building on Monday January 25, 2016. Those in attendance were Ricky Branch President, Jane Fugitt Secretary, Penny Lamb, Leslie Allmon, Emilie Martin, Candi Allmon, Diane Carroll, Jean Floyd and Rosie Simmons. All chamber members are invited to attend the meetings.
The minutes of the November meeting were approved and the financial report was given.
In old business a review was given of the Taste of Christmas that was held in December, over $800 came in from that event. A big thank you to all the churches and banks for their donations. All the churches and banks in town participated.
A wrap up report was also given about the Christmas Tree Project and Lights. The Chamber purchased 40 trees and could have sold more. The chamber had also purchased laser lights to project onto the courthouse from the proceeds of the Christmas in July. The chamber has had nothing but positive comments from the community and visitors about the tree project. Plans for next year will be to have the forms and rules ready to hand out at the Christmas in July event.
On Tuesday January 26, 2016 the Chamber sponsored a Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. The Mayor of Murfreesboro and the County Judge signed a proclamation on January 15 declaring the Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. A program was scheduled at the school with a speaker and the recognition of the various law enforcement personnel in our county.
An updated version of the map for the brochure was reviewed and Rosie will work to get it updated.
The last item of business was reviewing the Chamber Schedule of Events for 2016. The first event coming up is the Annual Chamber Banquet. The board discussed options for the meal and the categories for the awards. The Categories are: Volunteer of the Year, 2015 New Business of the Year, Business of the Year, and Humanitarian of the Year.
The Easter Egg Hunt will be Saturday March 26th and photos will be available again with the Easter Bunny.
