On Feb. 9, Deputies Dustin Wakefield and Timmy Floyd stopped a car driven by Zachary Pearson on Nathan RD. During the stop deputies contacted K9 Deputy Travis Turner to assist in the stop. Turner used K9 (Kilo) to “sniff” the outside of the car. Kilo alerted to the presence of a narcotic odor. Deputies noticed Pearson having difficulty trying to swallow as he was standing outside the car with the deputies. Deputies made Pearson spit out what he was attempting to swallow, three white pills. Deputies then found approximately 155 hydrocodone pills in the car. Pearson was arrested for Tampering with physical evidence and possession of a controlled substance.
Both are felony charges and he appeared in court on Wednesday for a first appearance in Howard County Circuit Court before Judge Charles A. Yeargan. The judge advised Pearson, 29, of Nashville, of his Constitutional Rights. Pearson told the court that he would hire his own attorney and the judge ordered him to return to court on Feb. 24 with an attorney. His bond is set at $25,000. – Terrica Hendrix also contributed to this story
