The home of former Murfreesboro mayor, Thelma Simon, on Highway 19 North was destroyed by fire Saturday morning. The home was more than 100 years old and the origin of the fire, which appeared to start in the kitchen, is currently unknown, according to Murfreesboro Fire Chief Alan Walls.
