The Dierks City Council has accepted a bid for construction of a new sewer lagoon. During a Monday meeting, the council accepted the low bid of $350,000 from Walker Sand and Gravel of Lockesburg. Mayor Terry Mounts said a public hearing will be held in a couple of weeks concerning a bond issue for the wastewater treatment plant and to discuss an upcoming water rate increase for the city.
“We will have a public hearing at the Dierks Municipal Building on Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. Stephens, Inc. of Little Rock will be coming down to talk about the bond issue for the wastewater plant and present that to the city council. An attorney will also be with that representative to talk about city ordinances for an upcoming water/sewer rate increase. The public is invited to attend and share any concerns that they might have concerning the building of the new wastewater treatment plant.”
If you have any questions or concerns, the meeting is open to the public or contact city hall.
