christineOn January 27, 2016, the “Sweet Chariot” came to carry Mrs. Christine White Underwood home to live with God in the Heavenly home to rest. Mrs. Christine White Underwood, 96, was born on May 11, 1919 to the late Sam and Mary Bell Cheatom White. She united with St. Luke C.M.E. Church at an early age. Mrs. Underwood left Arkansas many years ago to Cleveland, Ohio, where she met and married William Underwood, Sr. who preceded her in death. She worked at Marvel Hat and Cap Company in Cleveland for many years until she retired. She returned to Arkansas to take care of her sister, until her sister’s death. She made Arkansas her home once again. Mrs. Underwood had five children. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary L. Brown; two sons, William Underwood, Jr. and Lester Underwood; and one grandson, Jermaine Underwood. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Louise Jordan and Ethel Underwood; one son-in-law, Clark Jordan, Sr., all of Nashville; five grandsons, Charles (Toni) Jones, Jr. of Flint, Michigan, Clark (Tammy) Jordan, Jr. of Dallas, Texas, Donald Underwood, Jr. and Darnell Underwood, II of Nashville and William Underwood, II of Cleveland, Ohio; two granddaughters, Robin (Michael) Noland of Phoenix, Arizona and Patrice Bigg of Cleveland, Ohio; one sister, Pearl Banks of Columbia, Tennessee; one sister-in-law, Edna Mae White of Washington; one special niece, Janice (Floyd) Colston of Shreveport, Louisiana; one very special nephew, Artis (Brenda) Clay of Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren; twenty-three great grand children; and fourteen great great grand children. She will be greatly missed by all that has passed through her life. Visitation will be February 5, 2016 from 9:00 to 4:00 at Nashville Funeral Home. Services will be held on Saturday, February 6 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Luke C.M.E.
