GLENWOOD – A local man is currently classified as missing by the local authorities.

According to a Facebook post by those with knowledge of the situation, Kaci Reid, 35 years old, was last seen in the early morning hours of December 31 on Baker Road.

Reid is around 5’10” and weights 190 lbs. and sports a beard.

His last purchases before the disappearance were camping and fishing supplies and he may possibly be armed.

Glenwood Police Chief Jerry Lowery stated that Reid had broken no laws, and that he evidently “just wants to be missing … I think he’s dropped off the grid – he did go to Wal-Mart and purchased fishing line, fishing tackle, a tarp, a frying pan, Coleman stuff to cook with, so he wants to drop off the grid, and I think he will resurface before long.”

Should anyone come into contact with Reid, Lowery request they contact the Pike County Sheriff’s Department or the Glenwood Police Department with a report of a location.

“It’s obvious he wants to be alone — so if you see him, don’t approach him, just let us know,” said Lowery.

On Tuesday, the Arkansas State Police (ASP) — in combination with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) and Glenwood Police Department – conducted a search for Reid that included an aerial view via ASP helicopter.

The search was not fruitful, and has been suspended at this time.

According to the PCSO, the search was conducted in the area most likely to contain Reid, and, for their part, all leads in the case have been exhausted at this time until further evidence presents itself.

An official statement submitted from the PCSO reads as such:

“The Pike County Sheriff’s Department and the Glenwood Police Department are currently looking for a missing Glenwood man. Kaci Don Reid, 35, of Glenwood Arkansas was reported missing January 1, 2016. Mr. Reid was reported missing by his family. In that initial report the family stated that they have concerns for Kaci Reid’s welfare. The family reported to officers that Mr. Reid has been exhibiting some erratic behavior for some time including paranoia. Kaci Reid is not currently sought in connection with any criminal activity, nor is any foul play suspected.  Credible reports indicate that Mr. Reid may be camping in the Glenwood, AR or surrounding areas.  Due to information of Mr. Reid’s POSSIBLE impaired mental status the public is requested to use caution and report any knowledge of his whereabouts to the Pike County Sheriff’s Department at (870)285-3301.”
