Mount Ida woman faces drug charges

    15-371 EDMOND,KAYLA WARRANTA Mount Ida woman was arraigned on a trio of drug charges last week in relation to a probation home search in September.
    According to documents obtained from the Montgomery County Clerk’s Office states that Kayla Irene Edmond, age 23, was charged with possession of a controlled substance heroin, Possession of a schedule VI controlled substance with purpose to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. All three are class D felonies.
    Police reports state that on September 26, 2015, Montgomery County Sheriff David White, Deputy Sheriff Monica Smith and 18th West Drug Task Force Officer Mike May carried out a probation search at a residence in the Village Apartments occupied by Edmond, Corey Smith and Christina Jones. Smith and Jones were both probationers of PPO Frank Gibson.
    During the search officers allegedly located several items of drug paraphernalia, a small amount of methamphetamine, a loaded syringe filled with heroin and a large mason jar filled with marijuana.
    An arrest warrant for Edmond was issued November 18. She was scheduled for arraignment November 24, but did not appear. a Failure to Appear warrant was issued.
