Caddo juniors best Mineral Springs, seniors fall to Hornets

MINERAL SPRINGS – The Junior Lady Indians walked away from Mineral Springs with a 41-6 victory while the Lady Hornets and Hornets earned victories in the senior high games.
The Junior Lady Indians opened the junior girls’ game with a 22-2 run. They held Mineral Springs scoreless in the second while adding 12 to their lead. They outscored the Junior Lady Hornets 7-4 in the second half to win the game by 35.
Taylor Allen led Caddo Hills with 10 points, followed by Delaney Jackson with seven and Wraylin Phillips and Tracey Bershers with six each. Lilli Hunt, Abby West, Liz Ruiz, Gracie Davis and Capri Fogle each scored two. Peyton Powell scored 1.
In senior girls’ action Caddo Hills eased out to a 12-10 lead at the end of the first period, but Mineral Springs seized the lead in the second quarter with a 14-5 run. The Lady Hornets added three to their lead in the third before Caddo went on a 17-10 run in the fourth. Mineral Springs was able to hold on for the 43-40 win.
Chasitee Newton led the Lady Hornets with 16 points, followed by Olivia Coulter with 10. Rhey Stewart scored six and Ariana Johnson scored four. Precious Johnson, Camm Stewart and Ch. Newton  scored two each.
The Minteral Springs Hornets ended the night with a 71-55 victory over the Indians in senior boys’ action.
Mineral Springs outscored Caddo Hills 38-26 in the first half and went on to win the game by 16.
Darius Turner led the Hornets with 17 points, followed by KeShaun Davis with 14 and Camron Perkins with 13. Tre’ Lacy scored nine and Levin Thornton scored five. Rickey Walker, Kevonte Esters, Jamal Walker and Raheem Brown each scored two.
