GLENWOOD – A couple just outside of city limits were involved in a strange vehicle accident recently, according to local authorities.
A James Carter Jr., d.o.b. 9-11-81, and his estranged wife Dana Carter, 8-2-78, were under a temporary — which has since been made permanent — order of protection when Carter Jr. allegedly got into a vehicle at the family’s residence on Rock Creek Road in Glenwood and refused to vacate it when Dana attempted to take the kids to school.
After dropping the kids off at school and getting Carter Jr. to vacate the vehicle, Dana returned home to pack.
Upon returning to the highway, Dana encountered Carter Jr. walking along the side of the road on the opposite side. As corroborated by passing motorists, Carter Jr. ran cross the highway in front of Dana’s vehicle in an attempt to get her to stop.
Witnesses told police that Dana did all she could to not strike Carter Jr., but after an attempt to dodge him while slowing down, Carter Jr. was hit by the vehicle.
The accident was worked by the Pike County Sheriff’s Department, and no criminal charges were filed, nor an accident report as the vehicle sustained no damage.
Carter Jr. was transported to medical facilities, but was not seriously injured.
