Military Motor Convoy Coming through Southwest Arkansas

Friday morning the City of Murfreesboro will celebrate a historical event. A historic Military Convoy will be traveling through on its way to Paris, TX retracing the original 1920 Transcontinental Motor Convoy route along the Bankhead Highway.

The Military Vehicle Preservation Association is conducting the 95th Anniversary Convoy with as many as 65 historic military vehicles.

The convoy should arrive in Murfreesboro sometime after 9:45 a.m. and will continue through Nashville as well.

All veterans are welcomed to join a reception in their honor at the Pavilion on “The Square” in Murfreesboro from 9-11 a.m. The reception is being held by many organizations in Murfreesboro to show gratitude and appreciation for all veterans.

Murfreesboro High School will be conducting a community pep rally at the old Pike County Memorial Hospital parking lot immediately after the convoy passes. South Pike County School District Superintendent Roger Featherston said that it will be a very short pep rally, but will allow the school to show their appreciation for the veterans as well.
