‘Diamonds in the Fall’ to be held

MURFREESBORO—“Diamonds in the Fall” will be held Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31 on the Courthouse Square in Murfreesboro.
Two days of fun filled, family oriented events will be provided to the community by the Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Women’s Auxiliary of SEPCA.
The Pike County Courthouse will be closed Friday, October 30 in order for the event to be set up. Marriott Amusements will be providing rides and concessions will begin at 5 p.m. Vendors will be allowed to set up that evening.
On Saturday, October 31 activities will begin at 9 a.m. Concessions and vendors of all kinds will be available, rides will continue and bounce houses will be set up.
A Carved or Painted Pumpkin Contest will be held. Rules for the event are as follows: one (1) entry per person (carved or painted); and all entries must be submitted between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. under the Pavilion located near the Courthouse Square.
Winners will be chosen from the following age categories: 2-5-years, 6-12-years, 13-years and over, and 55-years and over.
Judging will be based on originality and overall impression. Winners will be announced after the Costume Contest that will be held at 5 p.m.
The Costume Contest will be held under the Pavilion and judging will begin at 5 p.m.
First, second and third place winners will be chosen out of each age division. Age categories are: 0-2-years; 3-5-years; 6-8-years and 9-12-years.
Trunk or Treat will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday night. Cars will be set up in designated areas around the Courthouse Square to pass out treats to children.
After Trunk or Treat rides will start again from 8-10 p.m.
Local bands will be providing live music beginning at 8 p.m.
