Archery fundraiser added to Norman Fall Fest

    NORMAN – The Norman Fall Fest kicks off with a parade, chili cook off and music by B+ Friday night and a full day of events scheduled for Saturday.
    The parade will begin Friday evening at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to participate. Those who are riding in the parade are asked to gather from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m.
    The chili cook off begins at 6:30 p.m. and craft booths will be open during the evening.
    B+ (Be Positive) will take the stage at 7 p.m.
    Saturday will have an early start with the Norman 5K Run scheduled to leave the starting line at 7:30 a.m. Runners will meet at the Norman Square. Registration is $20 per runner if received by Wednesday, October 14, and $25 afterward. Kids can run for $10 and all students can run for $15. Contact information for the 5K is jmeel@caddohills.org.
    Participants in the car show will register from 8 to 10 a.m. Winners will be awarded in 12 catagories based on age of vehicle and whether they are customized.
    There is a $20 entry fee for the first car and each additional car may be entered at a cost of $10 per car. The car show will conclude at 3 p.m.
    A 3-on3 basketball tournament will begin at 9 a.m. The tournaments are open to players of all ages. Teams will participate in pool play with bracket positions based on pool play.     A co-ed slow pitch softball tournament will begin at 10 a.m. Minimum age to play is 18 with all teams must play at least five women on the field with at least two men and two women in the infield.     The pageant will include nine age catagories ranging from newborn to 21 years old.
    Age categories include: Tiny Baby Miss (0-12 months); Baby Miss (13-23 months); Tiny Miss (2-3 years old); Little Miss (4-6 years old); Junior Miss (7-9 years old); Pre Teen (10-12 years old); Teen Miss (13-16 years old); Miss (17-21 years old).
    The pageant will be held at the old Normal School across from the square October 17 at 4 p.m.. All contestants are asked to ride in the parade October 16 at 5 p.m. All entries must be turned in by October 16.

    Another addition to the Fall Fest this year is an archery shoot. The archery shoot is sponsored by the Caddo Hills Archery Team with all money going to them.
    You must be in at least the sixth grade to participate. There will be a friend challenge. Two people will shoot against one another with a cost of 50 cents.
    The solo challenge allows you to shoot five arrows for $1. If you score 50 points you win $5.
