    The Norman Fall Fest is just around the corner with a car show, chili cook off and pageant to be held Saturday, October 17 in Norman.
    This will be the fifth year for the car show which will take place on the square around the Norman Library. Registration for the car show will be from 8-10 a.m. and the show will conclude at 3 p.m. with prizes awarded to winners in 12 different catagories.
    First and second place will be awarded to cars built in 1953 and earlier original; 1954-1983 original; 1984 to present original; 1953 and earlier modified; 1954-1983 modified; 1984 to present modified; street rod; truck 1970 to present; truck 1970 and earlier; muscle car; Corvette and custom creation.
    There is a $20 entry fee for the first car and each additional car may be entered at a cost of $10 per car.
    The preregistration deadline for the car show is October 1.
    This year will also feature a chili cook off sponsored by the Caddo Hills FCCLA.
    The entry fee for the chili cook off will be $10 per chili entered and contestants may enter more than one batch of chili. First, second and third place winners will be awarded with the winner given the distinction of “Best Chili in Montgomery County”.
    All ingredients must be precooked and the chili must be brought to the event ready to eat. Contestants are asked to bring the chili in a covered black pot. Contestants are required to provide their own utensils and products related to the chili. Spoons and cups for use by the public will be provided.
    Each contestant must cook a minimum of four quarts of competition chili. Any extra chili will be for public consumption.
    The chili will be judged on texture, flavor, consistency, spice and taste, aroma and color.

    the pageant will include nine age catagories ranging from newborn to 21 years old.
    Age categories include: Tiny Baby Miss (0-12 months); Baby Miss (13-23 months); Tiny Miss (2-3 years old); Little Miss (4-6 years old); Junior Miss (7-9 years old); Pre Teen (10-12 years old); Teen Miss (13-16 years old); Miss (17-21 years old).
    The pageant will be held at the old Normal School across from the square October 17 at 4 p.m.. All contestants are asked to ride in the parade October 16 at 5 p.m. All entries must be turned in by October 16.
