Mrs. Pearlie Leola Hill Nelson, age 83, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Wednesday, September 16, 2015, in the De Queen Medical Center. She was born to Jeffrey Odell and Mary Jane Calvin Hill in Nashville, Arkansas, on August 22, 1932. She was a graduate of Little River County Training School, Ashdown, AR in 1951, and a graduate of the Cossatot Technical College with a nursing degree. She retired at the age of 79 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Mrs. Nelson was a member of the Lewis Temple Church of God in Christ, and enjoyed gardening, quilting, and canning. She also enjoyed taking care of her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Jane Calvin Hill; her father and step-mother, Jeffrey Odell Hill, and Lydia Mae Nelson Hill; her husband, Lee F. Nelson; a daughter, Linda Nelson-Polk; and her siblings, Clora Mae Maxwell, Jesse Odell Hill, Marion Trammel, and Opal Friley. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jessie “Leroy” and Maria Nelson of Horatio; two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia Nelson Hearn of Wake Village, Texas, and Mary Carolyn and Rev. Daniel Thompson of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Jack Donald and Naomi Hill of Alexandria, Virginia and Clifford Trammel of San Diego, California, a sister, Betty Wilson of Lockesburg; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, Willie Boyles, Agnes Gilmore both of De Queen, Mildred Nelson of Lockesburg, and a brother-in-law, Leroy Nelson of De Queen. Funeral services for Mrs. Pearlie Nelson will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, September 19, 2015 in the Lewis Temple Church of God in Christ with Superintendent E. A. Edwards and Elder Jerome Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
