Brady McLaughlin of Nashville, a first-year medical student at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, visits his mother, Gayla Beaird of Nashville, at the UAMS White Coat Ceremony Aug. 7 in Little Rock. The ceremony welcomes students to medical school before classes begin. Each student received a white coat in the traditional ceremony, assisted by parents and UAMS faculty members. McLaughlin is a 2011 graduate of Nashville High School and a 2015 graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Beaird is cardiopulmonary service director at Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville.
