Two Day benefit to be held for 8 year old Jacob Teel beginning August 28

An entire community is coming together to hold a two day benefit with all proceeds to go to Jacob Teel, 8-year-old son of Jason and Monica Teel of Pike City.

In 2010 when Jacob was 3-years-old he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He traveled to San Antonio, TX and received a stem cell transplant. Jacob had a relapse in 2012 and received a bone marrow transplant.

Jacob’s cancer has recently returned for a third time and he and his family have been traveling to Dallas for testing and treatment.

Jacob and his family need continued prayers and any financial help that can be given. Along with the benefit, an account has been established for Jacob at Bear State Bank in Murfreesboro.

Events will kick off Friday, August 28 with an American Red Cross Blood Drive in honor of Jacob. The Blood Drive will be held in the Delight High School Gym Foyer from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. An appointment can be made by visiting redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-733-2767.

At 6:30 p.m. activities such as a silent and a live auction by Nick Fowler Auctioneer and a “Not So New Newlywed Game” will be held. Concessions will be available.

Beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, August 29 a Pancake Breakfast that will be held in the Delight School Gymnasium. Cost will be $5 per plate.

The “Knock Out Cancer-Fight With Jacob” 5K run/walk will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Delight Gymnasium. Participants age 9-12 will receive ribbons and trophies will be awarded to male and female first and second place finishers in the following age groups: 13-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59;  60 and over.

Registration fee is $25, with children 8-years-old and under being free. Entry forms can be picked up in Delight at McKnight’s Grocery and Bank of Delight and at Cashsavers in Murfreesboro. For more information about the 5K run contact Celeste May at 501-941-9196 or flycmay@windstream.net.

Charlie’s Petroleum in Deligh will be selling 200 tickets for a raffle to win $1,000 worth of free gas. Tickets are $20 a piece and can be bought at Charlie’s Petroleum. Raffle tickets for Free Breakfast at Charlie’s Petroleum for one month are $5 each and can be purchased at Charlie’s Petroleum as well. Drawings for both raffles will be held on Sunday, August 31.
