Mrs. Dorothy Jean Yancey Davis Harrison, age 80, a resident of Nashville formerly of De Queen, Arkansas, died Sunday, August 30, 2015, in Howard Memorial Hospital, Nashville,
She was born to John Henry and Lottie Davis Yancey in Tupelo, Mississippi, on May 3, 1935. She was a Baptist, a retired restaurant cook, as well as a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, singing, writing songs, listening to Elvis and country western. music. Most of all, she cherished her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, a son, Larry Wayne Davis, and her siblings, Mary Alferd Yancey, Annie Mae Yancey, Allie Pearl Yancey, Clarence Yancey, Floyd Yancey, and Houston Yancey. She is survived by six sons and daughters-in-law, James Lee and Lynne Davis of Lockesburg, Carl William “Bill” and Corine Davis of Lewisville, Floyd Lavelle and Debbie Davis of Nashville, Kenneth Morris and Rose Mary Davis of Durant, Oklahoma, Bobby Gene and Angela Davis of Texarkana, Daniel Ray and Stephanie Davis of Nashville, two daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Brian Foster of Texarkana, and Mary Alice Bland of Doby Springs, Texas, 26 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Funeral Services for Mrs. Dorothy Harrison will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2015, in the Lockesburg Church of Christ. Burial will be in Driver’s Flat Cemetery, West Banner, Mississippi, on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be at the Lockesburg Church of Christ from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
