AMITY ADULT EDUCATION

CADC ANNOUNCES REGULAR SUMMER LIHEAP
WILL NO LONGER ACCEPT APPLICATIONS
Benton, Ark. – Central Arkansas Development Council (CADC) announced today its summer LIHEAP program has stopped accepting applications for utility bill assistance. CADC is a private nonprofit community action agency that was formed in 1965 to fight and win the “War on Poverty.” The mission of CADC is to improve the quality of life and build strong communities in Arkansas. GRETTA LANE THRIFT SHOP
Gretta Lane Thrift Shop is having a half-off price on all clothing and shoes for the remainder of August. A love seat in excellent condition is also available. There is a good selection of back-to-school clothes for students. All proceeds support the Gretta Lane Food Pantry, which is open each Saturday from 10-2. The thrift shop is open Thursday and Friday from 10-4 and Saturday from 9-1. Both are located on the corner of Water Tower Road and Hwy 8 in Norman.

50TH REUNION
Saturday Sept 5th, 2015 – Start gathering at 11:00AM at John Benjamen Lake Pavilion (Derby Lake) in Glenwood Industrial Park on Hwy 8 E. (12:00PM Lunch – potluck dishes/smoked meat is being prepared by classmates. All class menbers bring your own drinks. Ice is provided. 1:00 PM – Program, 5:00 Dismiss, 7:00PM – Meet at Glenwood Country Club for Dinner This is a RSVP Dinner, 9:00PM – Visit at Big Lodge at the Country Club. Sunday Sept. 6, 2015, meet for breakfast around 8-9AM – until All classmembers of 1964 through 1966 or other classes around ours are invited to attend. OPEN TRYOUTS
Montgomery County Council for the Performing Arts will hold open tryouts for their holiday production of “It’s a Wonderful Life” August 29 and 30 at Roosevelt Auditorium in Mount Ida. Adults are highly encouraged to try out. The large cast offers a wide range of speaking parts for men, women and children ages seven and up, as well as non speaking parts as townspeople. The play is not a musical. There will not be any singing parts. Auditions will be held August 29 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and August 30 from 1-3 p.m. at the Roosevelt Auditorium.

CLASS REUNION
“Glenwood High School Class of 1965 will have their 50th Class Reunion on Sat. Sept. 5th at John Benjamen Community Fishing Pavilion at Glenwood, starting at 11:00 a.m. till 5 pm. BAINUM LIBRARY
Bainum Library & Learning Center will be starting a ‘1000 Books before Kindergarten’ program with kick-off day Saturday September 12, 2015. We will meet every Saturday from 10:00-11:30 am as long as there is an interest. This new program is a fun, exciting and free way to start a child on the path to success. Any child from birth to 5 years can participate, parents can track the reading, and we will also have a ‘Reading Theater’ group of older kids to help with reading, acting out a story or just listen. Any one who would like to read out loud to others will be very welcome to participate. Please join in this fun project beginning September 12, 10:00 am. THE FRONT PORCH STAGE
The Front Porch Stage on the Courthouse lawn in Mt Ida Proudly Presents “Phriends O Mine” in concert 7p.m. This great group plays a wide range of music, something for everyone. Bring your family, friends and neighbors, Your lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy an evening of great music! We have the shade, the breezes and the music! Our Possum Store and Back Porch Kitchen will be open during the concert.

ROCK CREEK HUNTING CLUB
The Rock Creek Hunting Club 12000 will have it’s fall meeting on September 1st, 2015, at 7:00pm at the Glenwood Elementary Cafeteria.

PIKE COUNTY
Pike County Clerk Sandy Campbell has announced that logic and accuracy testing of all media to be used for the voting equipment for the 2015 Annual School Election will take place in the Clerk’s office at 112 N. Washington, Suite A in Murfreesboro on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 10 a.m. The public is invited to attend.
