Amity woman, 72, tests positive for drugs, charged in fatal wreck

An elderly Amity woman has been charged with negligent homicide for a two-vehicle wreck last summer that killed a Hot Springs man.

The felony charge was filed Friday, Aug. 7 against Cherryl A. Grant, 72, in Pike County Circuit Court.

Grant was involved in the accident that happened June 12, 2014 on Highway 70 near Salem. Her 2006 Jeep crossed the centerline and collided with a 2014 Dodge Charger driven by Stanley L. Chandler, 56, of Hot Springs. Chandler died in the wreck.

According to case information, Grant submitted to a test following the wreck and tested positive for opiates, methamphetamine and hydrocodone as well as Lidocaine, Ondanestrone, Trazadone and Fentanyl.
