MURFREESBORO—At least two felony charges and a misdemeanor are pending for 23-year-old Lauren Mitchell of Murfreesboro.
According to Murfreesboro Police Chief Randy Lamb, he received a call around 8:30 a.m. last Thursday, July 23 from Amber McKinnon, a resident of Pine Street, advising that her vehicle was parked in her neighbor’s driveway.
When Chief Lamb arrived at McKinnon’s residence he noticed a silver 2008 Chevy Trailblazer with the rear gate and three doors standing open on the vehicle.
Chief Lamb approached the residence and Blake Gardner said that when he arrived home from work the vehicle was parked in the driveway and the keys were lying in the driveway. He said he placed the keys on the hood of the vehicle and contacted McKinnon and told her the vehicle was in his driveway.
McKinnon stated that she had arrived home from work around midnight, parked the vehicle and took the keys in her home, placing them on a table before going to bed. She said she found out about the theft when Gardner called and woke her.
Chief Lamb checked the vehicle for any possible fingerprints. He had been speaking with the Nashville Police Department about a pharmacy that was burglarized Wednesday night. During the exchange of information it was mentioned that there were also a couple of hit and runs that night as well.
After further review of video surveillance, the Nashville Police Department called and confirmed that the Trailblazer matched the description of the vehicle in question of the hit and runs.
Chief Lamb went to Nashville where he and the Nashville Police Department received home security video from Warren Clemmons residence. The video showed the vehicle drive into Clemmons’ yard, hitting two cars and then a woman, identified as Mitchell, exited the vehicle with her one-month-old infant in her arms.
Mitchell was arrested for felony residential burglary and theft of property and a misdemeanor charge of endangering welfare of a minor. Her bond was set at $25,000.
