A representative of the department said that around 1 a.m. Tuesday, three male subjects broke into Phil’s Eastside Pharmacy on Hwy. 70 and took an amount of pharmaceuticals. The spokesperson reported that the three broke in and were in the store for only about a minute. “They knew what they were looking for when they got there,” he said, characterising the break-in as a “smash and grab”.

Police are working leads in the case, according to the department source, who added that there is video of the incident.

This is the second robbery of the pharmacy in the past decade, according to the police spokesperson. The previous incident was an armed robbery.

In that instance all suspects were arrested and for which they are currently serving prison sentences.
