Redeemed

I was at church fellowship this week, and the word” redeemed” came up several times. “For the duratrion of the meeting, the meaning of this word,(the actual definiton and its meaning to me) stayed on my mind.” How does it apply to peoples’ lives? Why would he want to do this for a world He knew would someday be full of wickedness?

What is the definition of Redeemed?

As per Google: 1. compensate for the faults or bad aspects of (something).

2. gain or regain possession of (something) in exchange for payment

.

As per the freedictionarydefinitons.com

:to get or win back

:to from or help to overcome something

:to release from blame or debt

:to free from sin

:to change for the better

:to free from a by payment of an amount secured

:to exchange for something of value trading stamps

:to make good :

:to atone for : an error

:to make worthwhile :

This too states everything that the Lord has done for us, the very day he died on the cross. He paid a high price for me, He regained possession of me, He freed me from sin, He has made me good, He has made my life worthwhile, He sees me as valuable, He has changed me for the better, and so on and so forth. What part of this definition do you see in you? I hope you see it all, because you are redeemed the minute you receive Him into your heart.

Romans 3:23-24 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus.

Matthew 20:28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Revelation 5:9 And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.

I just love the thought and am so humbled by it, that He loved me so much and saw so much goodness in me that He WANTED to pay that price for me. So that I may become redeemed, and have a life full of joy, and forgiveness.

Colossians 1:13-14 13For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, 14in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

This is why He would do this for us, save us from a wicked world, to save us from darkness, to transfer us to the light, so that we could meet His father.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father
except through me.

I think the most important reason is His love, so deep, that he doesn’t want us to experience hell. The blood of the lamb redeemed us, so that we may have life with Him eternally. I believe that each of our names went across His heart that day on Calvary, but it didn’t stop there, His love is unconditional and our names still come upon His heart each and everyday.

What is your definition of redeemed?

I am redeemed,

Heather
